HOW THEY MET? Nick was literally the boy next door, or you could say “The boy up the driveway”. Kelly’s brother lived in the granny flat on Nicks parents property, when Kelly did the ole' "Any hot boys up there" to which her brother responded “yeah but the last name is Nomchong”. Alas, that did not stop Kelly. Their first date consisted of take away Thai food and a scary movie marathon which lasted until 2am on a weeknight, which then ended with Nick popping his car tyre on the way home.
THE PROPOSAL: Kelly and Nick had just packed up their lives in Australia to move to London together. Their first holiday was to Turkey to go hot air ballooning over Cappadocia. Nick was acting strange in the days leading up to this bucket list adventure. Kelly says that she would, for example, stand a little too close to the edge of cliff and he will pull her back into his protection and tell her he needed her to be safe. The night before Kelly was picking her outfit and as she threw on a dress, Nick looked at her and said "this is it", then went into the bathroom and as he returned he dropped to one knee. Kelly had no idea the proposal was coming, however, of course the answer was YES! They kept it quiet until the next day when they boarded the hot air balloon, where Nick had planned to propose, however was too nervous that he would drop the ring over the edge. They made everyone onboard the balloon cry.
HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY: The intimateness. They never could have imagined a smaller wedding could have been so them. Being able to spend those fleeting moments post ceremony together in pure happiness. Not to mention to neon sign of my dreams (Til Death by Love Glows).
THE PLANNING: Kelly found solace in a wedding Facebook page which she was able to ask all the questions she needed to navigate the planning cycle. Whilst living in London, Kelly entered a wedding giveaway competition which she won! (Thanks to Everlong events + JC Entertainment). This calmed her nerves and opened up the doors to some amazing wedding vendors.
THE STYLE: Dark + Moody with a touch of spooky. Kelly & Nick’s wedding vibes were warm, intimate and eclectic in style. They wanted their wedding to reflect their personalities, as well as who they were as a couple. Kelly & Nick decided to maximise the barn to it’s full potential, having their ceremony inside it’s rustic walls, and adding in sparkling lights, with ample amounts of flowers and candles. They incorporated some personal touches to create a subtle haunted vibe.
DIY ELEMENTS: Kelly & Nick did their own signage, as well as some small touches incorporated into the design. The rest they left up to the professionals.
CEREMONY SONG: Your Guardian Angel - Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.
THE FIRST DANCE: Slow Dancing In A Burning Room - John Mayer.
THE BLOOPERS: None, went off with a bang.
HOT TIPS: Do it your way, express both your personalities to the maximum.
